Faith Career Tanmay Singh Study Abroad Anshul ISB Swetamukta Panda QMUL ELT MA Overseas Education Abroad Education

#1) Sweta, can you please briefly describe your profile?

I hold a Master’s degree in English from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad and I have been working as a Content Developer for the past three years. Currently, I am working as a Prompt Engineer for Nvidia. My professional and academic experiences of the past few years strengthened my interest in pursuing a Master’s in English Language Teaching.

#2) Why did you decide to pursue an MA in English Language Teaching (ELT)?

While pursuing my Master’s in English, I was fortunate enough to experience a little bit of different streams of English, and English Language Education had always piqued my interest. But I wanted to gain some work experience first and I was unsure whether my small interest in the subject was enough to justify pursuing a full-fledged Master’s degree. The past few years of work only served to strengthen my interest in English Language Education. Further, gaining advanced knowledge in this field will help me transition and establish a career as an educator as well as aid my future professional endeavors.

#3) What were your top 3 reasons for selecting Tanmay Singh to be your mentor for your QMUL ELT application?

A) The very first call with Tanmay allowed me to understand that he has a complete understanding of the entire application process which gave me confidence in his guidance. He had a clear understanding of my profile and also helped me gain a clear perspective on what my options were and what I could do to achieve them even on a very tight schedule.

B) Tanmay’s approachability and genuine desire to help his students achieve what they want also helped me build that trust with him. His constant support, feedback, and confidence in me (even when I was struggling with confidence) are some things without which I don’t think I would have achieved my goal. He goes above and beyond in his mentorship and gives his all to support his students.

C) As I was not an early bird with applications, we were on a very tight schedule. Tanmay made sure we didn’t deviate from this timeline - from IELTS preparation to personal essays, school, and scholarship applications were all done right on time. I deeply appreciate his being so invested in each step even when he was feeling under the weather. Most of all, he genuinely listened to all my concerns, offered the best solutions, and was a constant support.

#4) What 3 tips would you like to share with an aspirant working on their study abroad application?

A) Start as early as possible and be meticulous. Research your preferred universities and programs thoroughly and prepare all the necessary documents beforehand.

B) Maintain an academic as well as a professional portfolio. Seek letters of recommendation well in advance.

C) Don’t hesitate to seek professional help as that hesitation can cost you valuable time and once you have decided on pursuing studies abroad, stick to that plan.

#5) How was Tanmay’s mentorship important while working on the QMUL ELT application?

I genuinely believe I wouldn’t have secured the offer letter without Tanmay’s help. He was such an immense support - he had a plan for every step of the process, and knew what virtual events I needed to attend, how to network, and who to reach out to. He answered all my 10001 questions, no matter how silly, and with the patience of a saint. He transformed my personal statement for the QMUL ELT program into such a compelling one! He ensured that all the aspects of my application were polished and reflected my strengths.

#6) What are your final ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ for a study abroad aspirant?

Do:

A) Start early to avoid unnecessary stress.

B) Be genuine in your application and tailor it to reflect your requirements.

C) Seek professional help because it is a crucial junction in your professional career.

Don’t:

A) Don’t rely on information gathered from the internet and connect directly with university representatives/program coordinators.
